About the Opportunity Under the leadership of the UNC System Office Chief Audit Officer, the auditor will provide internal audit services for the UNC System Office, PBS North Carolina, and the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA). The position may also assist with providing audit services to campuses based on prioritized requests or needs as established by the UNC President. Some very occasional travel to campuses or conferences is possible.
This position is expected to function at an independent level when performing basic financial, operational, compliance, information technology and investigative audit procedures, assist with writing the audit and investigative reports, and participate in presenting the reports/audit results at meetings with management and the audit committee. This position is also expected to provide basic management advisory and consulting services with regard to risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. The work performed by this position will contribute to providing assurance that the organization has adequate and effective internal controls, operations that promote efficiency and compliance with policies, applicable laws and regulations and that the assets are properly protected. This position will work on site at least 3 days per week at the Dillon building in downtown Raleigh's Warehouse District. Occasional travel to assist campuses or attend conferences is possible. The UNC System Office includes the offices of the President and other senior administrators of the multi-campus University of North Carolina System. The UNC System is a treasured public institution dedicated to serving the people of North Carolina through world-class teaching, research, and community engagement. Today, nearly 250,000 students are enrolled in our 16 universities across the state and at the NC School of Science and Mathematics. System Office staff is responsible for executing the policies of the UNC Board of Governors and providing University-wide leadership in the areas of academic affairs, business and financial management, long-range planning, student affairs, research, legal affairs, and government relations. The UNC System Office also has administrative oversight of a number of University affiliates, including PBS North Carolina, the North Carolina Arboretum, the NC State Education Assistance Authority, and University of North Carolina Press. About the Team The UNC System Office of Internal Audit is responsible for overseeing and managing key audit, risk management, and compliance functions at the UNC System Office. This includes overseeing and managing the internal audit function for the UNC System Office (and contracted affiliates), working with System Office leadership and constituent institutions to coordinate risk management programs for the University, and overseeing other high risk compliance programs for the University. The division serves as the primary liaison for Campus Chief Audit Officers to UNC System Office leadership and to the Board of Governors Committee on Audit, Risk Management and Compliance (CARMC), as well as to state-levels partners such as the Office of the State Auditor, Council of Internal Auditing, and Office of the State Controller. In addition, divisional staff coordinate, provide, and participate in professional development programs across the University.
