Summary

As a member of LG's Corporate Affairs Team, the Government Affairs Director will assist in the development and implementation of LG's policy and regulatory agenda. In this position, the Director will help drive government affairs at the federal level -- and state level as necessary, to enhance LG's business growth. Individual will work cross-functionally throughout the organization to assist in the development of a legislative and regulatory policy agenda that will foster an environment of business growth. Help identify potential business opportunities, needs, and risks stemming from pending legislative, regulatory, and related initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels as necessary. Support the crafting and delivery of compelling messages on key advocacy issues. Work with trade associations and consultants to keep abreast of issues relevant to LG. Assist in the drafting of regular government affairs briefing materials, including memos and presentations. Work to educate key stakeholders including Members of Congress, congressional staff, and regulatory staff on issues of importance to LG such as energy, transportation, environment, tax and trade.

Responsibilities



  • With Vice President of Corporate Affairs, develop and execute strategies to advance company interests with U.S. regulatory agencies and state governments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Regulatory & Environmental Affairs and Compliance teams to support business objectives and assure alignment. Coordinate with LG DC Corporate Affairs team responsible for congressional and administration activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with federal regulatory agencies and state & local officials where LG has major operations, while addressing state issues with trade associations.
  • Identify opportunities to advocate legislation through trade associations or directly.
  • Primarily based in [Washington DC].


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10~15 years' experience in public and/or private sectors - corporate, trade association, government, NGO.
  • Accomplished professional with a successful track record of implementing successful government relations programs for a large multinational corporation, trade association or NGO.
  • Demonstrated program success in achieving positive regulatory results.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet tight deadlines, and maintain flexibility with changing strategic priorities
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passionate, creative, and committed, with strong ability to lead and influence.
  • Strong project and budget management expertise, with superb attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of batteries, electric vehicles, and renewable energy a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
