Job Description
Utilize working knowledge of general building systems i.e. Chilled Water, High Pressure Steam, Compressed Air, Non-contact Cooling Water (NCCW) Glycol Cooling, Vacuum, Cooling Towers, domestic hot water, Supply Fans to ensure reliable operation. Perform preventive maintenance, trouble shoot & repair all equipment associated with the Utility Plant. Utilize working knowledge of general building management systems (BMS) i.e. Siemens, SCADA Systems (i.e. Flammable Gas, Toxic Gas & Bulk Gas) and fire detection system. Apply what is already known to our specific systems. Use electronic databases for tracking alarms, shift logs, etc. (Lotus Notes based). Operate plant equipment in the most economical and energy efficient manner according to the utility plants guidelines. Take ownership and responsibility for all equipment and protecting the assets of the department while on watch. Understands and complies with the Environmental Management System guidelines and requirements of ISO 14001 Ensure log entries are processed completely, accurately and in a timely manner. Observe conditions of equipment rooms and note housekeeping / safety issues. Take actions to correct any problems or report them to management. Provide technical leadership, direction and assistance to junior staff. Mentor and assist with training of other CUP Operators and Technicians. Assist with completing required administrative tasks including paperwork and computer processing. Assists with planning and scheduling of all CUP work orders and preventative work orders ensuring all work orders are completed per schedule. Ensure required utility plant reports and deliverables are generated accurately and on time. Required to work a rotating shift schedule to provide team coverage 24/7/365 Required to work overtime to cover emergencies, shutdowns and planned vacations. At times, with short notice, required to cover for co-workers. Become a member of the site Emergency Response, Confined Space Rescue and HazMat Teams and respond to emergencies. Required Experience and Training Ten years related experience High School diploma/GED Minimum of two years of related trade schooling or two years of college. Prefer Refrigerant certification Knowledge and Abilities Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation. Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift 60 lbs. repeatedly. Ability to locate equipment sound source, ability to discern color of alarm indicators. Equipment inspections may require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access. Requires ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports, excellent customer service skills. Requires teamwork attitude. |
