  • We are hiring immediately for a full time GROUNDS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR position.
  • Location: TAMU College Station - 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843 Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time schedule. Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: A valid driver's license, supervisory, small engines, diesel mechanic, welding, and equipment repair experience required.
  • Pay Range: $20.00 to $27.00

Job Summary

Summary: Provides leadership/ direction to mechanics and field employees in the absence of shop manager and is tasked to complete assignments in and around the maintenance shop yard. Primary responsibility is the repair and maintenance of grounds management equipment. This is a working position with infrequent administrative work assignments. Position expectation, 95% of time will be mechanical duties, 5% administrative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly train staff in operational procedures for operations
  • Conduct and assist in interviewing, hiring and progressive counseling/ coaching
  • Maintain and support client satisfaction to ensure account retention
  • Proficiency in; safety / compliance, safe operational procedures, and company safety policies.
  • Assure quality and safety in shop and yard as required by OSHA, ANSI, EPA, State and local authorities.
  • Ensure compliance by comprehensive and consistent record keeping licensure and /or certifications.
  • Assist with management of expense budgets and provide budgetary forecasts and tracking sheets on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Unsupervised repair and maintenance assignments.
  • Manage inspection & repair work order system. Coordinate with Shop Manager to prioritize projects.
  • Ensure that all vehicles, trailer, and equipment inspection reports are completed according to departmental policy.
  • Maintain Repair and Maintenance records for all company equipment, vehicles, trailers, and tools.
  • Manage fuel for operation and, monitor consumption.
  • Coordinate with Shop Manager, to complete periodic yard and asset inspections to ensure cleanliness, order, compliance, and perception of a well-managed shop and yard.
  • Prioritize and schedule repairs and, preventative maintenance thru the existing work order system.
  • Coordinate work schedules and work project assignments.
  • Inspect equipment and routinely exercise machines/tractors to test for malfunctions, breaks, battery, etc.
  • Record all production and tracking on parts and time spent per individual piece of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five years' experience in mechanical repair of landscape related equipment with emphasis on managing multiple technicians.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with direct report, peers, & field teams.
  • Detail oriented.
