Job Summary:



The Research Services Clinical Sciences Professional (RSCSP) will work within the School of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology (0.5 FTE). The RSCSP will join the research team of Kristen Demoruelle, MD, PhD. Dr. Demoruelle's research focuses on understanding the earliest steps in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) development and the development of lung disease in established RA. Her studies investigate where and how RA-related autoantibodies initially develop and sex differences in that process as well as how RA-related autoantibodies contribute to the development of lung disease in RA.

As part of this role, you will perform administrative activities that are required to complete clinical research studies. This may include recruiting for research studies, scheduling study participant visits, accurately recording and entering data, responding to data queries from the data manager, and supporting physician investigators. Some of the clinical research activities you will routinely perform include participant calls and interactions (e.g., recruitment, scheduling, reminders, data collection) and conducting study visits (including blood draw & sputum collection).

It is important for the person in this position to communicate appropriately and effectively with investigators and other team members, have outstanding customer service skills, and maintain relationships that are equally respectful to all. Research visits and study activities will be conducted at the Barbara Davis Center or the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. On occasion, some study support activities may be completed remotely.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Overseeing research studies: Assist with & oversee the day-to-day operations of research studies, ensuring adherence to research regulatory standards and maintaining detailed records to ensure compliance.
  • Participant interaction and recruitment: Interview prospective participants for research studies, educate potential participants on study details, and coordinate participation in research studies, including scheduling and coordinating necessary support.
  • Data management and record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of studies, enter information into database for retrospective and observational studies, and ensure data obtained from research is accurate.
  • Study visits and procedures: Independently conduct research visits, including measurements, phlebotomy, and induced sputum collection, as defined in study protocols and in compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Training and assistance: Assist and train junior team members, as well as create and maintain training materials for clinical and laboratory-related work.
  • Laboratory support and basic laboratory techniques: Collaborate on laboratory and research functions, perform basic laboratory techniques, and prepare the lab for daily operations, including restocking materials and equipment as needed.
  • Process improvement and problem solving: Assist team leads, supervisors, and/or management with the creation and implementation of processes and procedures, identify solutions to problems encountered by the research team, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:



  • Bachelor's degree in any field.


Intermediate Level:



  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience.


A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous experience in human subject research and/or direct patient care.
  • Experience with client/participant recruitment and scheduling.
  • Basic laboratory experience.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems and/or sample management systems.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this part-time (0.5 FTE) position has been established as:

Entry Level: $23,872 - $30,364

Intermediate Level: $25,978 - $33,044

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
