Director, Business Activation

Develop and direct the company's efforts to affect positive change in marketing, merchandising, training and instore experience (Retail Edge) to improve overall business growth and expand relationships with multi-location customers while developing a strategic plan to continue development and implementation of the Retail Edge program. Manage the performance and development of Business Activation Managers and support staff to assure long-term sales and profit growth.

What You'll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):



  • Responsible for developing strategic RE 1-3yr plans and oversee projects from initial idea to final stage. Create and manage the annual RE plan to deliver agreed KPI's and targets and provide required reporting.


  • Leverage shopper, customer and category insights to create and deploy plans within regions. Fully understand category and have knowledge into insights created by the analytics team. Coach the team in the use of Retail Edge tools/insights/solutions to engage and influence customers to make informed decisions that will grow our category/products and deliver our annual plan.


  • Manage, develop and motivate a team of Business Activation Managers (BAMs), working closely with the sales team to build and elevate Retail Edge competency in the field.


  • Manage and measure BAMs' development of their respective sales team's Retail Edge competency and Retail Edge activation/impact with the region's customers.


  • Collaborate with the Retail Edge team of solution owners to ensure that the translation from insight to content is easy to understand and comes with recommended customer solutions that are easy to execute.


  • Interface with multiple retailer business functions and manage complex projects.


  • Collaborate with RSDs on BAMs' priorities in the field to support customer specific initiatives.


  • Collaborate with CMMs and Marketing department on strategies and best practices to create aligned regional marketing plans. Collaborate with brand management, consumer marketing, and sales to ensure alignment of brand objectives.


  • Develop short- and long-term business plans for key retail edge initiatives.


  • Responsible for helping to grow region's market share, revenue and profit.


  • Hire, train, develop, coach and lead a team of Business Activation Managers that drive business results and demonstrate Tempur Sealy Core Values.


  • Analyze retailer and industry conditions utilizing strong business acumen skills and identify opportunities that drive business results.


  • Monitor individual performances, travel, and expenditures with each Business Activation Manager. Provide verbal feedback to each representative regularly, and written feedback at least quarterly.


  • Strong thought leadership in creating Retail Edge strategies and creative that builds the Tempur Sealy brands and customer's brand.


  • Develops short and long-range business plans for key Retail Edge initiatives.


  • Analyze sales history, provide insights and articulate drivers in variance between sales and forecast to support top projects


  • Responsible for ensuring projects are on time and on budget.


  • Visits field on a regular schedule to present and improve the sales effectiveness of the regions Retail Edge strategies.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need (Qualifications):



  • Minimum 10 years of consumer products sales and/or marketing experience.


  • Minimum of 2 years in people management.


  • Bachelor's Degree required (MBA preferred).
