Bolton & Menk is now accepting applications for our 2025 summer internship season in our Rochester location. As a Survey Field Intern you will spend the majority of your time working with an experienced crew chief out in the field and will be able to use skills learned in the classroom out in real work projects.

What You Will Be Doing:



  • You will assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection.
  • You will be on construction staking
  • You will be gaining experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment.
  • This position will interact with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.


What We Are Looking For:



  • Degree Programs: Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying or Survey Technician Degree, or related field, from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.8. Desired GPA 3.2.
  • Students must have the ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above.
  • General coursework in, and completion of, general surveying and AutoCAD drafting are preferred.
  • Students must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the firm's standard rates. Students must also own their own transportation. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel. A check of the candidate's motor vehicle record will be conducted as part of the on-boarding.


Each year we look for variety of experience, education, and ability for our student intern pool. Some positions may be filled with students who have experience depending on the level of complexity a project or client may require. Preference may be given to students who have completed a previous internship with Bolton & Menk.

Relocation and housing are not included.
