This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Greenwich Drive and remote. Onsite 3 days a week.

DESCRIPTION

Involves the provision of patient-level financial and clinical data and analysis to inform the medical center or physician group's operational, financial and strategic decision making. Includes the development of a case-based operating budget for patient volume, detailed utilization projections and effectiveness. Oversees the service line profitability reporting and decision support system integration of clinical and financial data in a patient-centric repository. Provides for the measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare industry and internal business objectives.

Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Applies extensive knowledge of industry practices in health care decision support and advanced professional concepts to substantial projects, typically at high degrees of complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads projects and/ or serves as an information resource on teams involved with business development planning and the implementation and integration of new programs or expansions. Contributes to feasibility studies, evaluations of ROI, and the creation of pro forma financial statements for new or potential programs or expansion of service lines.
  • Ensures reliability and integrity of methods, modeling processes, and output products at all levels of complexity. Monitors that appropriate data is properly balanced (financial, operational, clinical), analyzed, and loaded into the decision support system.
  • Provides analysis and investigations of performance, utilization, clinical programs, market trends, and financial analyses at all levels.
  • Participates and may lead project teams to utilize database tools and multiple data sources to synthesize, model, and validate data. Creates substantive reports for management and stakeholder decision making.
  • Provides financial and statistical information in the development of budget. Works with management across the medical center to resolve or correct financial or procedural issues.

  • Thorough understanding of decision support systems, with knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases, business development scorecards, data modeling, and performance and profitability analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of issues in clinical finance, planning, financial data management, and business development. Skills to effectively utilize the tools to produce meaningful findings and actionable intelligence.
  • Detail oriented, with strong ability to effectively manage time. Skills to effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on complex projects in a team environment with interdepartmental personnel at a variety of professional and technical levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex technical and financial information in a clear, concise manner, and make effective presentations of analyses, reports, and investigation results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability, and strong knowledge of documentation and reporting, with the ability to run queries, complex studies, and forecasts.
  • Proven ability to work with senior staff and managers across departments, serving as a technical resource in decision support, and providing recommendations and advice on decision support processes, business and financial issues, and industry trends and advances.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training in Decision Support and/or role including financial analysis, pro-forma and business plan development, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training in Decision Support and/or role including financial analysis, pro-forma and business plan development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center and Physician Group.

  • Understanding of professional productivity measures and hospital financial reporting.

  • Experience and proven success in decision support systems (EPSi/ Strata /Syntellis, McKesson, other), with knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases (Access), business development scorecards and data (Excel/ Tableau/ Power BI).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
