APPOINTMENT START DATE: Spring Appointment begins January 2, 2025 (classes begin 1/15/25).
JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-Time, non- tenure track position(s) in the Department of Marketing.
SALARY RANGE: $4,800 - $7,000 per three-credit course.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) has the potential need for part-time, non-tenure track adjunct faculty position(s) in the area of Marketing at the Instructor/Assistant Professor levels beginning Spring 2025. The individual(s) hired for these positions will have responsibilities in teaching one or more undergraduate (elective) courses in areas which could include International Marketing, Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy, Principles of Marketing, Sales Analytics, and Sports Marketing etc., depending upon the individual's expertise and the department's need. Being a qualified individual does not ensure a teaching contract will be offered; course offerings and therefore teaching appointments will vary with demand and available funding. Typically, classes in LSBE are held in person.

Qualifications

Required/Essential:

  1. Applicants must have a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA or another equivalent graduate degree, including ABD status) with a curricular emphasis in Marketing or closely related field from a major accredited national, provincial or international university.
  2. If the applicant has a Master's degree and is not ABD or Ph.D., they must have relevant and significant work experience (3+ years) that demonstrates active involvement in their discipline since the time of the Master's degree completion.
  3. Effective communication skills.
  4. Applicants must have experience teaching at least one university-level course as instructor or teaching assistant. Experience in either training or public speaking within an organized setting can substitute for teaching experience.
  5. Eligibility to teach in the school's accredited programs is determined by the review of the applicant's demonstrated evidence of their full-time work experience and engagement in professional activities (e.g., attending business/professional events, participation in professional development activities, service on boards, or continuing education, etc.) in addition to achieving the minimum conditions for one of the four 2020 AACSB faculty qualifications [Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academic (PA), Scholarly Practitioner (SP), or Instructional Practitioner (IP)] as defined by LSBE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GbNhdtIcaSZdmaeTlW8DnjcnnFJ7Hlu9/view

Preferred:

  1. ABD or Ph.D. (or an equivalent terminal degree) from an AACSB accredited (or a regionally accredited) institution.
  2. Five or more years of high level and relevant corporate work experience.
  3. Experience teaching Marketing courses (specific to the teaching need) at the college level to a diverse group of students.
  4. Active engagement with the business community.
  5. Demonstrated evidence of using a variety of teaching methods in a classroom.
  6. Demonstrated dedication to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $4,800 - $7,000 per three-credit course; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
