Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: High school graduation or equivalency.
  • Experience: No prior experience is required for this position.
  • Physical Demands: A main requirement of the job is physical labor.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsement within 6 months upon hire.
  • Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certification in Water Distribution or Water Treatment within one year of hire.

The City of Peoria Water Department is seeking a dedicated Utility System Operator I in the Water Production Division to maintain and repair the City's water production system. This full-time, benefited position involves maintaining and repairing equipment related to the water production well-field treatment and delivery systems across the City.

If you are a hardworking individual with a passion for teamwork, this is a fantastic opportunity for you. Please note, participation in standby is required, and shift work, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callbacks may be necessary on an as-needed basis.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Motivation and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with co-workers
  • A basic understanding of plumbing and construction practices
  • Experience assisting in the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of equipment, machinery, and systems related to Water Production
  • Proficiency in dealing with real numbers, and practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions, and measurements
