Responsibilities

The Role

Unload freight, label, stage, pull and load orders as directed, completing all necessary paperwork during the process. Operate warehouse equipment and perform various material handling duties. To provide a safe, clean, and healthful work environment for self and other team members.

Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To

  • Comply with company policies and guidelines
  • Use warehouse equipment to unload freight from trailers / trucks (occasional hand stacking required)
  • Verify expected vs actual using proper tools (van maps, BOL's, etc.)
  • Identify and communicate damage upon receiving to Shift Lead
  • Complete all necessary documentation during receiving process
  • Separates bulk pull pallets into individual customer pallets using order and pull sheets
  • Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
  • Responsible for giving special consideration to maximizing product care, product quality, and proper pallet handling to ensure safe transport and delivery to the customer.
  • Secures load for shipping by shrink wrapping to secure pallet load, attaches label to pallet noting the destination / customer.
  • Stages orders as directed using manifest / BOL's as a reference
  • Conduct daily safety check of forklift trucks, restraining systems for tractor trailer trucks, and maintenance needs of over-the-road trucks.
  • Responsible for shift-end duties: performs operations and safety check, including battery, brakes, lift controls, and fire extinguisher.
  • Uses equipment appropriate to each type of movement.
  • At each day's end, returns equipment to correct charging station, cleans unit of debris
  • Shares in minor repair work and housekeeping responsibilities for the work area.
  • Safely operate all warehouse equipment
  • Maintain clean and orderly conditions throughout warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Good math, language, reading skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read/write/record data and perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Responsible with equipment and vehicles.
  • Clean driving record (no property damage accidents, or DUIs within the past three years).
  • Vision: 20/20 corrected, and normal hearing range.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. safely.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and warehouse procedures and regulations required; CDL certification as required, forklift, electric pallet jack and warehouse experience.
  • Contact with other departments, such as inside, outside sales, and pickers.
  • Must follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Ability to observe and follow proper safety procedures, and a willingness to report potentially unsafe conditions.
