About the unit Gerber Med Surg has a total of 24 beds, including observation and inpatient. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurses station, breakroom and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. Med Surg is a great place to begin and grow your skills in direct patient care. They care for mainly the General Medical Patient Population, which could be patients with a wide variety of diagnoses. Scope of work Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Cleans patient's environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data. Qualifications * Required High School Diploma or equivalent. * Basic Life Support (BLS) Cert required within 90 days Physical Demands
