Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • MSN degree
  • Minimum of 2 years general practice and 3 or more years experience in an OR, PACU, or Perioperative area (adult population)
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 2 years previous teaching experience in a service setting

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Course completion in IV Therapy required
  • ACLS and Critical Care certification a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Word Documents, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Part-time
  • Day shift
  • 20 hours weekly

Essential Functions:
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating and executing educational programs for all levels of professional, technical, and ancillary staff in a variety of clinical areas and hospital departments consistent with the hospital s mission, vision, philosophy, and core values. Programs include the orientation of new employees, in-service education relevant to the hospital environment, and continuing education offerings which are expected to maintain and/improve competency and work performance.

The clinical nurse educator will assists the facility with compliance to regulating standards, quality improvement, and programs focusing on customer service. Acts a clinical resource, develops and oversees monthly education calendar. Reviews policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and nursing literature for evidence based clinical guidelines and standards of care to educate staff. Performance includes planning orientation for register nurse, nursing assistant, and unit assistant.

The clinical nurse educator participates in performance improvement activities. Oversees and develops a mentor, preceptor, residency programs. Assesses data relevant to the learner s progress, and interprets the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans. The Nurse Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides.

This individual will be responsible for assessing the educational needs of the staff on an ongoing basis and to serve as a resource/coach for the nursing staff, educators, APNs, Management, and other healthcare providers. Collaborates closely with CNO, Director of Nursing and nursing management to ensure any quality issues or performance issues are resolved. The clinical nurse educator is available for all shifts, for purposes of education, mentoring, and development and demonstrates job flexibility.
