The Sanitation Coordinator is responsible for providing technical and leadership support to the Sanitation Department by training team members and maintaining sanitation equipment. The Sanitation Coordinator works closely with the Sanitation Team to effectively plan and execute work schedules, as well as provide leadership to the Sanitation Team. Assist sanitation employees with issues and provides recommendations for cleaning process and alternative solutions. Essential Job Duties * Assists in distributing the workload to the Sanitation Team and Operation Sanitation Team as defined by the Master Sanitation Schedule. * Responsible for tracking and training of new and existing employees on proper sanitation procedures and safety training. * Maintains proper function of sanitation equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as, assuring the adequate inventories of PPE are kept available at all times. * Utilizes powered cleaning equipment that may include lift truck, scissors lift, power washer, foam applicators, automatic compactors and various non-mechanized equipment. * Follows safety rules including but not limited to safe lifting, lock out/tag out wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), following l Safety Data Sheets, proper disassembly and reassembly of equipment. * Assists in plant cleaning as described by the Master Sanitation Schedule. * Maintains general housekeeping in all areas of the plant. * Participates in all necessary safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives. * Performs other job related projects, duties and assignments as directed. * Where applicable and in absence of the Supervisor, the employee is responsible for pre-op or post sanitation inspections. * Must be capable of performing the work of a Sanitation Technician. * Monitors, tracks, and documents chemical usage within the plant. * Mixes/Handles chemical concentrates. * Inputs chemical concentrates in to excel. * Creates/Updates Standard Operating Procedures. * Mandatory overtime may be required. * May perform other duties as required. * Coordinates the Sanitation floor schedule with supervisor daily and crew appropriately to estimate runout times and inform supervisor of all production issues. * Assists Sanitation employees with issues that arise during shift. * Assists in developing One Point Lessons (OPL) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for training purposes. * Trains and oversees new packaging employees which includes onboarding and on the job training. * Participates in interviewing, training, and onboarding new team members. * Reviews work orders and provide leadership and direction to Sanitation employees. * Communicates policies to team members and acts as liaison between Managers and team member. * Audits shift paperwork for completeness and accuracy. * Provides input to and may help conduct team member evaluations in a fair and timely manner. * Assists with implementation of plant continuous improvement efforts. * Participates in 5S program compliance. * Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection; keeps work area clean; stores packaging room supplies in designated areas. Scope of Responsibility Working closely with the Sanitation Manager and Sanitation Supervisor this position will direct employees in daily activities on the floor, assign workload and crew accordingly and must be able to plan accordingly. Coordinator will direct and coach team members but does not have disciplinary or budgetary responsibilities. This job has no direct reports, however, in this lead position, leadership skills must be exhibited. Knowledge and Skill Requirements * Knowledgeable of Good Manufacturing Practices and industry standard cleaning procedures. * Knowledgeable of HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points), allergens and pest control required. * Attention to detail and a sense of urgency in matters of food safety required. * Basic knowledge of the function and operation of sanitation equipment required in order to trouble-shoot problems. * SQF (Safe Quality Food) Certification a plus. * Understanding of the basic functions of all production required to complete sanitation procedures. * Skills and/or ability to gain knowledge of proper sanitary design for equipment (preferred). * Skills and /or ability to acquire and maintain power lift equipment certification (lift truck, scissor lift). * Ability to write and read reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and vendors. * Ability to apply basic math concepts. Ability to analyze data to identify specific trends. * Ability to solve practical problems independently. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED; a minimum of 2 years in Manufacturing required. Physical Demands Must be able to comply with the physical demands of constantly lifting and moving stock by hand or with manual equipment. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular basis, and occasionally be able to lift/move more than 100+ lbs. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
