Data Engineer (Onsite)

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, managing and maintaining analytics datasets, sources and reporting infrastructure for Bryan Health. This role serves as an expert and key resource for Data Governance, standards and applications across the organization. Additionally, this role will work with stakeholders to scope, build and implement key data and analytics initiatives.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. * Particpates in or supports work stream planning process.

3. *Builds required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using both on prem and cloud database technologies.

4. *Creates and organizes large, complex datasets.

5. *Identifies and deploys improvements to current data structure to improve performance and quality.

6. *Builds and automates (where possible), and manages ETL processes for data inside and outside the organization.

7. *Uses, builds and monitors tools to ensure data quality and accuracy.

8. *Works with internal and external customers and partners to gather, validate and implement data requirements.

9. *Works collaboratively with leaders and end-users to define business problems and appropriate soluations, including project scoping and technical requirements.

10. *Develops, executes and documents user test plans, and provides support to test teams and resolves issues based on test results.

11. *Verifies the collection of data is within required quality standards.

12. *Particpates as key resource in enterprise Data Governance process.

13. Creates data quality tickets as needed.

14. Participates in vendor evaluations when assigned.

15. Reviews upgrade documentation related to new/additional available features and determines how to implement changes.

16. Responsible for building and maintaining such items as: Cubes, Extracts, Self-Service reporting tools customer filters, Third-Party business intelligence tools.

17. Assists in the development of end user training materials.

18. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

19. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

20. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Highly proficient in SQL and relational database concepts (SQL Data Tools (SSDT), SQL Server Intgration Service (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)).

2. Highly proficient in metadata management, data quality, stewardship, etc.

3. Knowledge of healthcare related data formats: JSON, XML, FHIR, HL7.

4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

6. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.

7. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

8. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

9. Ability to adhere and adapt to current and improving standards.

10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Informatics, Information Technology, Statistics or related field required. Five (5) years of related experience required. Master's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Informatics, Information Technology or Statistics preferred. Minimum of four (4) years developing pipelines in a complex data environment preferred. Experience with full stack development helpful, especially Docker and data science tools (Python and R) preferred. Knowledge of multiple healthcare-related functional areas (i.e., pharmacy, surgery, nursing, emergency department, hospital billing, etc.) preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Epic Clarity or Caboodle and Data Model certification highly preferred. Cloud development certification highly preferred.

WORK HOURS:

Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a requirement of three days per week in office.
