Medical Assistant
Overview Assists physicians and nurses with medical examination of patients. Responsibilities Calls patients from reception area and prepares patients for examination by providing gowns. Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a physician or RN. EKG's, HCG, urinalysis, rapid strep tests. Logging all appropriate information into EMR and immunization book. Assist with pap, cultures, ear laivages, Chaperons when appropriate and assists during minor surgeries and certain diagnostic procedures, such as PAP Smears. Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms and cleans and sterilizes instruments. Stocks examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies. Inventories and reorders supplies. Performs phone triage. Prepares patient records for scheduling daily visits. Pulls and files medical charts as needed. Assists front desk with appointments, scheduling, answering telephone, taking messages and registering patients. Performs other duties as assigned. PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. Qualifications Successful completion of a Medical assistant program (or equivalent military training) and certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA) is required or ability to obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
