Microsoft Mixed Reality is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to create and refine mechanical part designs through full product development cycles, from ideation to mass production.As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will integrate optical and electronic assemblies with mechanisms and mechanical enclosures to create great augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) experiences. To do this, you will be asked to balance the needs of customers, budget, schedule and product requirements while communicating effectively across partner teams. You will create mechanical drawings, work with overseas manufacturers, and refine your designs through prototype builds and reliability validation. ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a process focus you will be responsible for the line design and bring up in addition to fixture design, verification and validation. Responsibilities also in system design and verification/validation including (but not limited to):System level and sub-system design responsibilities in the development of concept explorations and technology investigations.Create evaluation models and systems to assess performance investigations for various technology components and product features.Perform technical analyses, recommend, prepare and execute designs-of-experiments, and characterize process and design interactions.Interface across multiple disciplines (e.g. Program Management, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, EE) in selection of materials equipment and components for detailed development.Interface directly with sub-system partners for design of and integration of technology components.Stay current and versed in emerging technologies, materials, methods and manufacturing processes.Contribute to project planning for development schedules.
