Summary

The MaineHealth Bright Bodies program is looking for Health Training Specialist(s) with a focus on activity and nutrition/behavior modification to join our team!

About the program:

Bright Bodies is a 12 week evidenced based Intensive Health and Behavior Lifestyle Treatment (IHBLT)program affiliated with Let's Go!. Bright Bodies uses a family approach for children ages 6-17 who have overweight or obesity. The program curriculum consists of three key components: behavior modification, physical activity and nutrition education. Throughout the program children and their families will gain insight into food intake and activity levels, while learning concrete skills to promote healthier behaviors and lifestyles along with building self-esteem, confidence and strengthening family dynamics.

The Health Training/activity specialist would lead and facilitate group activity classes with guidance from the Bright Bodies curriculum. This position will work with other team members that could include a nutrition specialist, behavioral health specialist, Let's Go! clinical Director and project manager. Training on the Bright Bodies specifics will be provided.

Both locations have late afternoon/early evening hours 1-2 day/week. Parking is free and easily accessible

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in health education, public health or a closely related field preferred.
  • Health and Wellness Coach certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with children and families with overweight and obesity.
  • Availability on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
  • Experience delivering in-person and virtual activity classes a plus!
  • A creative and energetic approach to planning and facilitating activity classes.
  • CPR certification and first aid training preferred.

Job Duties Include:

  • Facilitate a 45 minute physical activity session two times per week
  • Set up/clean up for classes
  • Help collect/record data for the program
  • Participate in Bright Bodies training.
  • Attend Bright Bodies team meetings as needed (mostly virtual)

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Public Health or a closely related field preferred.

2. License/Certifications: Certified Health and Wellness Coach preferred.

3. Experience: Experience in nutrition and/or physical activity preferred.

4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A

5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: ability to facilitate large and small groups and public speaking skills
