Electronics Technician

STS Technical Services is looking for experienced Electronics Technicians to join our team in New Hudson, Michigan. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals with a background in wire harness building, specifically those familiar with IPC standards. As an Electronics Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting prototype and concept vehicle development, with a focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous platforms, and unmanned vehicles.


Key Responsibilities

  • Wire Harness Construction: Build complex wiring harnesses from engineering schematics, pin schedules, and loom drawings following IPC 620C standards.
  • Component Installation: Install electrical components onto vehicles, applying techniques used in military or motorsports wiring loom builds.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on various electronics lab work products to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Technical Support: Assist engineers in troubleshooting electrical systems and providing feedback on product needs.
  • Electronics Tools Usage: Use voltmeters, power supplies, soldering irons, and other electronics tools for harness assembly and repair.

Additional Duties

  • Team Collaboration: Provide feedback on product improvements, support education and training efforts, and work as part of a collaborative team.
  • MS Office Proficiency: Utilize MS Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication tasks.

Qualifications
Required

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work, ensuring precision and reliability in all tasks.
  • Reliability: Consistent dependability to meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.

Preferred (but not required)

  • Wire Harness Build Experience: Experience with complex harness assembly, particularly in military or motorsports contexts, is a strong plus.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Education: High school diploma.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in wire harness building, ideally with IPC 620 certification.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic tools such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, power supplies, and soldering irons; experience with printed circuit board assembly and repair.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with military or motorsports wiring loom techniques and basic automotive systems, including powertrain and lighting.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various positions on vehicles and equipment, including confined spaces and high-voltage systems.
