Job Description
Waste Connections is looking for a safety conscious 2nd Shift - DIESEL MECHANIC to join our team in Knoxville, TN.

As a key member of our automotive maintenance technicians team, your work as a Diesel Mechanic will focus on the overall maintenance of equipment used by our company in the transportation and handling of vehicles. This will involve, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate equipment serviceability for repair or replacement efforts
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
  • Routinely Inspect and troubleshoot machine centers for defects
  • Install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings and assemblies using hand tools.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documents to determine methods and sequences of repair.
  • Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as voltmeters and bridges.
  • Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures
  • Train others to install, use, and maintain.
  • Performs repairs (including electrical and hydraulic systems) and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing
  • Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Strenuous physical work, to include heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain and supply own personal tools needed to perform essential duties
  • Welding/fabrication experience,a major plus
