About the Role

Watlow is pioneering new textile manufacturing applications using advanced 3D knitting machines, and we're seeking a Senior Engineer with expertise in industrial knitting and a passion for textiles to help lead this initiative. This key role will drive product development, applying 3D knitting to produce next generation heaters. The position is based at our St. Louis, Missouri, Technology and Development Center and reports to a Chief Systems Designer.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead the design, programming, and development of textiles using advanced 3D knitting techniques to manufacture complex heaters.
  • Work closely with product development teams located in St. Louis, Mexico, and other global sites to achieve project goals and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Actively troubleshoot issues related to knitting machine performance and textile output, ensuring high-quality standards and efficient operation.
  • Address unique challenges in adapting knitting technology to new applications with a focus on the process of translating complex 3D shapes into effective knitting patterns.



Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced knitting with a proven background in textile manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in programming, operating, and troubleshooting 3D knitting machines, with a solid understanding of industrial knitting.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Ability to work creatively within a high-pressure, fast-paced environment to adapt and optimize knitting technology for unique product applications.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills to work effectively across multiple departments and locations.
  • Experience in technical textiles or manufacturing industries is highly desirable.



Initial travel between St. Louis and our Queretaro, Mexico campus to support simultaneous product development efforts will be needed. Future travel to support rollout to other global sites is anticipated.

Relocation assistance is available for candidates relocating to the St. Louis area.
