Summary of Position
This position is part of the UNH laboratory school on campus and is part of the College of Health and Human Services within the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.

The chosen candidate will work under the general supervision of the executive director and assistant director, and in collaboration with a teaching team, will plan, implement, and document an exemplary early childhood educational program for children, families, and students. This position may be assigned to an infant through preschool classroom as needed on an annual basis

Master's degree in Early Childhood or Pre-school Education and two years of experience in teaching pre-school children or Bachelor's degree in Early Child hood, Pre-school Education or Elementary Education with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood or Pre-school Education and four years of related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a laboratory school setting and/or NAEYC accredited program.
  • Additional classroom teaching experience beyond the minimum required particularly in a program serving diverse populations.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience and skills working with dual language learners.
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Duty/Responsibility
Works collaboratively with team in planning, implementing, and documenting an exemplary (developmentally and culturally appropriate) educational program for young children in keeping with culture, values, and goals of the CSDC, NH licensing, and NAEYC accreditation
Engages in pedagogical documentation, makes adaptations in curriculum and environment based on children's needs and interests, takes responsibility for appropriate child supervision during large group times, small group times, and individual work with children as needed


Duty/Responsibility
Takes responsibility for daily supervision of and collaboration with the classroom teaching team with the goal of creating positive and dynamic team with clear communication. Takes responsibility for ensuring that all classroom requirements and deadlines are met (newsletters, portfolios (child and classroom), assessments, program requests) and that the workload and decision making is distributed equally among the classroom team.

Develop family education and participation programs and conduct individual parent conferences at least twice annually and when appropriate. Maintain effective written, electronic, and oral communication with parents as needed, including contributing to monthly newsletters and website materials

Maintain records on all children (and families) enrolled in the program as required by accreditation, licensing, and CSDC policies; collect and organize ongoing assessment and documentation materials of children as the basis for curriculum development and reporting to families. Write developmental assessments for assigned children; collaborate with administration, families, and external agencies to ensure equity for children with special rights (needs); maintain all related documentation

Organizes and prepares classroom curriculum materials and environment, prepares documentation displays, prepares assessment portfolios, family journals, and actively participates and responds to center wide email as well any other out of classroom professional work required

Supervise assigned student interns and part time Teaching assistants, completing written evaluations, meeting on a weekly basis with interns to review goals and classroom practice, responding to journals and other expectations required of cooperating teachers.

Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings/workshops, weekly and bi-weekly team and teacher representative meetings, and create and implement program for self improvement; and engage in annual assessment with supervisor by preparing evaluation and other related materials.

Provide leadership in the CSDC community by serving on committees for center wide events and projects and pitching in with the ongoing organization and cleanliness of the facility. take the role of "acting director" as requested in the absence of the director and assistant director.
Support research and visitation at CSDC; Advocate for children and families on the local and state levels, and become active in professional organizations


Duty/Responsibility
Perform classroom related duties as required for classroom team, including snack preparation, child diapering/toileting, cleaning, washing dishes, laundry, etc. Complete other duties as assigned by executive director or assistant director, including contributing to safety, health and maintenance of the program
