Overview The Dean of EVMS at ODU serves as the chief academic, clinical and administrative officer of the school of medicine. The Dean directs the EVMS Vice Deans for Academic and Clinical Affairs, all Department Chairs, and Institute/Center Directors residing within the school of medicine. The Dean is responsible for advancing the educational, clinical and research programs of the medical school. The Dean also provides leadership in medical education, scholarly activity, research, patient care, and service. The Dean also serves as the Chair of the EVMS Medical Group, Board of Directors (Board). Responsibilities The Dean shall manage EVMS clinical, research and academic services of the School of Medicine in accordance with policies of ODU. The Dean shall design, implement, manage, and recommend final approval of all EVMS faculty hire, promotion and tenure, compensation, and incentive plans to the Executive Vice President.
MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: CONTACTS: Students, vendors, faculty, staff, administrators, legislators, and public. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Dean of EVMS shall assure the financial integrity of EVMS and EVMS Medical Group and develop and recommend to the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences an annual financial plan and budget. EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITY: The Dean of EVMS shall provide primary administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for all academic activities of EVMS. RESEARCH RESPONSIBILITY: The Dean of EVMS shall provide administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for research activities of EVMS. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITY: The Dean of EVMS shall serve as Chair of the Board to the EVMS Medical Group. They shall provide primary administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for all EVMS clinical faculty and related activities of EVMS. Qualifications An appropriate undergraduate degree with an advanced terminal degree required. Administrative experience demonstrating the ability to leadership within a complex academic health center. A history of positioning higher education institutions in ways that enable them to thrive in the 21st century. Location : Location US-VA-Norfolk |
