How you will help us create value together:
As a Human Resources Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Corporate HR team. While the Corporate HR team provides HR support to roughly 1,100 employees globally, the HR intern will work on tasks that directly support the Milwaukee office. The HR Intern will gain exposure to HR generalist tasks within a global business, including employee engagement activities, talent acquisition, data administration, and collaboration with HR CoEs (Centers of Excellence.)
This internship is available to start in January 2025 and will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District! We offer full-time hours during the summer, and flexible part-time scheduling during the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Gain competency utilizing the HRIS system, SuccessFactors, to process record changes for employees and contingent workers. This may include ownership of the contingent worker system entry and offboarding process for corporate functions.
- Support and participate in the Milwaukee Internship Program, which may include serving as an HR resource to peers, planning intern program events, and attending university career fairs and networking initiatives (infrequent local travel may be necessary)
- Participate in recruitment activities such as intake meetings for new positions; posting job requisitions, reviewing resumes for qualified candidates, and scheduling for phone, video, and onsite interviews; may provide additional TA support as needed.
- Participate in planning events such as the HR Team Engagement Committee, Annual Employee Service Awards banquet, and HR Leadership Team Summit
- Under direction of the HR Director and/or HR Program Manager, assist with various reporting, research, and special project requests as needed (may include new policies and procedures development)
- Support the HR Team in handling employee relations matters and requests
- Provide team with support of routine HR administrative tasks as needed
- Learn about and support HR and COE functional areas within the heavy equipment industry
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality in dealing with company and employee information.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, or similar, from an accredited college or university
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level student in good academic standing; rising Juniors and Seniors preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
- Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in an HR or administrative department, or in a customer service role.
- Active involvement and/or leadership roles in student organizations or athletics teams are also accepted.
- Basic understanding of Human Resources practices and terminology; employment laws and regulations
