Description

The City of Irvine seeks a skilled candidate with strong customer service and general office experience to provide courteous assistance to the public while directing the daily operations of the Child Resource Center.

There is one Part-Time vacancy with a schedule requirement of 19 hours per week.

Your Impact

  • Assist Child Resource Center lending library patrons with memberships, selection of and checking in/out lending library materials.
  • Communicate professionally and clearly over the phone and in writing via email when providing information on programs and services.
  • Perform general office duties needed to maintain efficient operations of the Child Resource Center lending library, including greeting the public, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and providing introductory tours.
  • Assist with creating themed materials displays that rotate on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain existing inventory of materials, library system, working files, and equipment.
  • Prepare new materials for entry into the Lending Library, and enter electronic materials records in library software.
  • Prepare and maintain various records and reports.
  • Provide administrative support in receiving and accounting for money, calculating fees, processing payments, creating monthly and quarterly reports, and processing mailings to community groups.
  • Assist with a variety of special programs and events within the City's Office of Health and Wellness.
  • HOURS: Weekday shifts will be scheduled during the hours of 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm; occasional weekend availability is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of high school, and one-year responsible clerical experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. May require a valid California driver's license.

  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through on assignments that require attention to detail and established procedures.
  • Ability to understand and respond positively to the needs of patrons and provide customer service in a courteous, sensitive, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Operate and troubleshoot modern office equipment such as a computer, photocopier, printer, voice mail, telephone, and laminator.
  • Data entry computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to show initiative and be self-motivated with a positive approach.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems rationally and decisively, using tact and good judgment.
  • Experience working in early childhood environments or with parents of young children preferred.
