Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Pediatric Heart Center Service Line Administrative Director the clinical registry analyst supports clinical RN data analysts in collecting, collating, submitting, and presenting clinical outcome data for PHC. This position is responsible for the administrative and organizational support for quality outcome reports both internally and externally. Applies knowledge of clinical registry to support existing clinical staff in using the registries to collect, store, and report clinical data accurately and in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.

This position is specifically focused on national reporting requirements for compulsory data submission to National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4). Data submissions may also include reporting to other quality consortiums, accrediting bodies, and insurance contracting.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $50,700 - $107,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Pediatric Heart Center is an integrated program of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals working together to offer comprehensive, patient-centered care to the fetus, infant, child, and adolescent with heart disease, as well as adults with congenital heart disease.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience
  • Data analysis, research, and reporting skills. Analytical skills to compile and review data and draw assumptions.
  • Solid communication skills, including verbal, written, and active listening.
  • Interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with peers in medical centers and regional and national groups.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Minimum 2-5 years of administrative experience in a medical setting, ideally neonatology, pediatric critical care, and/or pediatric cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Customer service orientation toward clinical registry users, advocating for issues with registry use.
  • Familiarity with the clinical and operational aspects of the clinical registry, including data collection, medical center policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Acquiring knowledge of the registry's clinical specialty. Solid understanding of registry software in order to effectively teach users.
  • Demonstrated teaching skills. Ability to break down moderately-complex concepts in an understandable way
