Quality Control Manager

Position Summary: This person will be responsible for the management and implementation of Sauer Structural's Shop Quality-Control (QA/QC) Program for their AISC Certified fabrication shop. This person will be assigned to work from Sauer's Oak Hill Florida Fabrication Facility as well as various job site locations at nearby Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Essential Functions:

  • Strong ability to read, understand & interpret structural steel drawings, specifications, & AISC requirements
  • Perform layout & fit-up inspections and provide witness to testing procedures
  • Assist in maintaining records, inspection reports, and other related documents
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of quality control procedures, i.e. inspection instructions, control measuring, test equipment etc.
  • Exhibit the ability to develop an understanding / working knowledge of our quality assurance / quality control program, work standards and procedures.
  • Assist in the review of purchasing requirements to assure compliance
  • Manage / compile quality documents for purchased items
  • Participate in internal and external quality control audits, including AISC
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction


Qualifications:

  • Experience in structural steel industry.
  • High School diploma is required, college degree preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) NOT REQUIRED but a PLUS
  • Experience on Government and / or Aerospace related projects
  • Thorough understanding / knowledge of Quality Control inspections, procedures and standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient with computer applications Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Able to learn and utilize various common cloud-based computer file sharing systems.
  • Able to learn and utilize Adobe or Bluebeam computer systems for drawing management in PDF format.
  • Ability to use Tekla software a plus.


Skills/Competencies:

  • Job requires the employee to sit, walk, stand, climb ladders / stairs, bend / twist at the neck and trunk, reach above head, reach forward, push/ pull, lift and carry, squat / stoop / kneel
  • Able to pass Sauer pre-employment physical screening and drug-free workplace test
  • Must be a US citizen or Legal Alien able to apply for various levels of security clearance at Government and Military Facilities
