TEMP Athletic Technician

Summary

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the upkeep of the City's athletic fields, which includes maintaining its grounds, facilities, equipment, landscapes, and restrooms. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to perform any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the organization.

Salary

$9.00 - $13.50 Depending on qualifications and experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Grounds Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and safety of athletic fields by promptly addressing tasks such as debris removal, tree trimming, grass mowing, and landscaping. Maintain the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings.

  • Equipment Management: Maintain equipment used on athletic fields, promptly addressing equipment issues.

  • Restroom Maintenance: Keep restrooms clean and in proper working condition, ensuring a pleasant experience for users.

  • Adherence to Safety Standards: Follow established safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks to maintain a safe environment.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Be prepared to perform any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the organization, contributing to the overall success of the athletic fields' upkeep and operation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • Up to 2 years related experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience in park maintenance, operating trucks, tractors, or related equipment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of operating equipment in a safe manner

  • Basic knowledge of or experience in athletic field maintenance.

  • Basic knowledge of the materials and the ability to operate equipment used in athletic field maintenance.

  • Skill in operating smaller park maintenance equipment

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to pick up litter and debris, clean playgrounds, and generally police all park recreational areas and facilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State of Texas Class C Drivers License

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting. Exposed to physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
