Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staff Attorney - Faculty Group Practice (Physician Contracting).
Under the direction of the Vice President for Ambulatory Network/Associate General Counsel, the responsibility of this role is to assist the Vice President for Ambulatory Network/Associate General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel-FGP in providing competent, timely legal advice, assistance and service to coordinate legal activities as they relate to the NYU Grossman School of Medicine Faculty Group Practice (FGP), specifically physician contracting and integration initiatives. In addition, this individual shall assist in ensuring FGP activities remain in compliance with regulations related to these initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft and review agreements/contracts with respect to physician employment, professional services agreements, physician practice acquisition and affiliation, and clinical network development, assuring consistency with business terms, School of Medicine policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide legal review of physician employment agreements to assure consistency with business terms and objects as well as regulatory compliance and School of Medicine policies; advise designated FGP and other clinical affairs administrators of issues, draft appropriate amendments and communicate with physicians' legal counsel.
- Participate in negotiations with designated FGP and other clinical affairs administrators with respect to physician recruitment (employment and independent contractors), physician agreements and practice acquisitions.
- Provide assistance and training to FGP and other clinical affairs administrators and contracting staff in relevant legal and contracting areas.
- Perform the principal legal research and document preparation in connection with the NYU School of Medicine physician integration initiatives and related contractual matters, including reviewing compensation arrangements for fair market value and preparing supporting legal memoranda, as necessary.
- Draft various template physician employment agreements and develop appropriate legal contract clauses including any updates as needed. Review and assess if the templates can be improved combined or streamlined.
- Oversee and direct FGP Contract Specialist(s)/Analyst(s) and paralegals with respect to physician contracting and recruitment process management to ensure compliance with NYU Grossman School of Medicine policies, processes and requirements and that all aspects of physician arrangements are appropriately reviewed and approved.
- Work on multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines on a self motivated basis.
- Work collaboratively with a wide variety of business personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Admission to the NY Bar with two (2) to four (4) years' experience in healthcare law or physician contracting in an academic medical center or hospital system. Effective oral, written communication skills and have the ability to work collegially with diverse personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Individual must be detail oriented and organized. They must have the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines on a self-motivated basis. Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of business personnel. Individual must possess well developed communication skills, strong research and legal interpretation abilities and a strong client service orientation.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.39 - $175,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
