The Department of Theatre Arts at the UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH invites applications for a tenure-stream Assistant Professor in Acting, beginning in Fall 2025, pending budgetary approval. Candidates should have extensive professional experience in performance within the past five years and bring skills that complement those of the current faculty. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in at least two of these areas: Voice and Movement, Stage Combat, Commedia dell'arte, Heightened Language/Shakespeare, IPA, Lecoq/Clowning, Musical Theatre, Global Majority Performance Practices. The successful candidate will teach and mentor multi-level undergraduate performances and classes, take an active role in season productions through student mentorship (as vocal coach, fight choreographer, etc.), assist with regional conference attendance and recruitment, help train graduate student and adjunct instructors in the Performance Area, teach within the graduate MFA Performance Pedagogy Program, and serve on MFA thesis committees. The chosen candidate will also mentor undergraduate and graduate students on creative research and practice. The candidate will actively participate in the governance of the department. Minimum Qualifications * MFA * Evidence of at least three years of successful college teaching experience and * At least five years of professional performance experience * Strong written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications All the items listed above plus: * Union membership (AEA, SAG, etc.) * Demonstrated evidence of strength in curriculum design and course development.
