Position Description: The laboratory of Dr. Udai Kammula, M.D. in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Hillman Cancer Center has immediate openings for talented and passionate postdoctoral fellows/associates. The Division of Surgical Oncology's primary goal is to develop novel methods for treating cancers through immunology, virology, and molecular biology techniques and to translate research findings into patient treatments. We are interested in recruiting PhD candidates in life sciences or other relevant disciplines for laboratory research that focuses on adoptive T-cell therapies for cancer. The post-doctoral research fellow will work on independent and collaborative projects developing adoptive T-cell immunotherapy for advanced cancers. The successful applicant should have experience in tumor immunology and immunogenomics with specific skills in single-cell genomics and next-generation sequencing, single-cell genomics applications, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, multi-omics, and spatial transcriptomics. Working knowledge to perform molecular characterization of human T cell receptors and B cell receptors is beneficial. Hands-on experience with processing human and mouse blood and solid tumor tissue samples and experience with lab automation systems is required. The post-doctoral fellow will perform correlative studies to evaluate the adoptive transfer, persistence, and function of antigen-specific T cells in human clinical trials of adoptive T cell immunotherapy and in mouse models

Candidates who have an interest in mechanistic and translational studies in cancer immunology and immunotherapy are encouraged to apply. The qualified applicants will be required to conduct research, interpret results, prepare manuscripts, and aid in the preparation of grant applications. The required expertise includes all common molecular biology and cellular immunology techniques, molecular cloning, and cell culture. The applicant should have a command of the English language, good interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, critical thinking ability and evidence of experience, and good writing skills through first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals. The applicant should also be proficient in computer software usage, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical packages.
