Capital One's Experience Design (XD) organization creates memorable, meaningful customer and associate experiences that build our brand with humanity and drive business advantage. The goal of Experience Design Research is to accelerate product teams' learning velocity. We do this by conducting discovery, testing, and assessments and overseeing democratized research/testing conducted by others. A key aspect of our role is to find and synthesize existing research and data to help teams acquire the knowledge they seek to make informed decisions.

As the Design Research leader across Capital One's Financial Services line of business, you are responsible for collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers to articulate learning needs, learning agendas, and research roadmaps. You track research questions and insights across the Financial Service product areas. You are well connected to and understand each product area's strategy and needs in order to identify and prioritize research activities including primary research, knowledge mapping, assessments, and testing. You maintain a close relationship to research leader peers across Capital One to identify opportunities to re-use learnings and collaborate on research that can serve multiple lines of business.

Responsibilities
  • Human Centered: Developing deep expertise in our customers' needs and business solutions in order to proactively identify research opportunities that deliver meaningful, actionable insights.

  • Business Focused: Building and maintaining trusted relationships with leaders of business, product, design, and engineering. Leveraging existing data and leading high impact programs

  • Research Expertise: Establishing direction and expectations for design research practice across the line of business. Seeking out novel methods and technologies to accelerate learning velocity.

  • Problem Solving: Evaluating increasingly diverse perspectives, data-driven insights, and customer & business needs to accelerate learning, inform decisions, and influence the product experience portfolio direction. Enable and support democratized research activities.

  • Transformational Leadership: Establishing standard research practices, high quality insights, and team talent development.

This is a hybrid role in North Dallas, TX, and candidates need to be able to commute, or relocate to the Dallas, TX metropolitan area.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 8 years experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research.

  • At least 3 years managing user experience research teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research in large, matrixed organizations.

  • 8+ years managing user experience research teams

  • Experiencemanaging managers

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to influence senior executives

  • Experience with performance management and career coaching

  • Experience attracting and hiring top talent
