Summary:
The Sepsis Coordinator demonstrates advanced knowledge of clincial practice in sepsis management, focusing on the oversight and coordination of interdisciplinary team efforts regarding sepsis. Demonstrates knowledge of sepsis care across the continuum, influences leaders and leads complex improvement projects for the specialized patient population. Duties include overseeing the sepsis program, management of sepsis protocols and guidelines, data analysis and performance metrics, and staff education.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborates with hospital-based health care team to provide information and resources to facilitate patient care. Provides inservices and formal presentations to nursing, medical and ancillary staff on topics related to the specialized patient population. Responsible for leading committees related to specialized patient population.
2. Interprets Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requlations, monitors compliance of quality reporting, queries CMS, and abstracts cases of specialized patient population.
3. Collects data related to specialized patient population and analyzes for trends. Enters data or coordinates its entry into databases and registries for benchmarking purposes. Participates in performance improvement activities to promote quality patient care. Analyzes data for trends and makes revisions to patient care protocols for the specialized patient population assigned. Monitors outcomes of care for patient population and collaborates with the interdisciplinary health care team on evaluation of outcomes.
4. Translates intricate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for clinical teams, ensuring that data-driven decisions enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The ability to communicate complex information in an understandable and impactful manner is essential for supporting the clinical teams in their mission to provide exceptional healthcare services.
5. Reports the status of CMS and organizational goal compliance to leaders.
6. Promotes own professional development through attending inservices and presentations. Keeps current in practice through conferences, reading current literature and research. Role models professional nursing practice to others through use of the nursing process and professional behaviors.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Critical Care or Emergency Department experience preferred. Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen Coach training preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Five (5) years of professional nursing experience. Experience with project management, process improvement or quality data analysis preferred.
* Clinical Experience associated with leading quality improvement efforts may be assessed as equivalent to direct quality improvement experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Strong leadership skills, ability to influence leaders and lead complex projects.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and education.
* Facilitation skills and presentation skills.
