PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Signals & Communications Inspector you are accountable forthe on-going maintenance and testing of S&C systems in accordance with CPKC standards and regulatory requirements.This is a non headquartedtraveling position between Kansas City, MO and East St. Louis, IL. We invite candidates anywhere between the St. Louis and Kansas City metro to apply. Columbia, MO area is ideal.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Use digital & analog multi-meters and common electronic instruments for the testing, installation, maintenance and to diagnose equipment problems and failures
  • Troubleshoot Signals & Communications (S&C)equipment tocircuitboardlevel
  • Use computers for diagnostics in troubleshooting electronic equipment, software burning, software uploading/downloading, downloading event logs, and other various functions
  • Manage and document applicable CPKC test and inspection reports
  • Team work environment
  • Become familiar with CPKC S&C circuit drawings and standards
  • Moderate to heavy physical labour. This work involves:
    • Lift/carry, push/pull 50+ pounds
    • Bending, stooping, standing and reaching above shoulders
    • Climb vertical ladders, stairs, ramps & getting on & off of track equipment
    • Walk on uneven surfaces such as rocks for extended periods of time and for long distances
    • Sitting for long periods occasionally
    • Occasional exposures to dust, fumes and gasses

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previously trained, qualified and certified from another Class 1 Railroad or equivalent training program
  • Available to respond to after hours emergency calls
  • Will be working outside exposed to the elements
  • Good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills are essential
  • Ability to travel alone and work independently
  • Work all shifts and overtime (including weekends if necessary)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Medical Requirements:

Qualification drug test(s) are also required.
